Fighting Managed Care Abuses

I am a psychologist who became an attorney to fight managed care abuses

after seeing my patients and myself struggle for too long with too

much. I presently assist people in getting their treatment, getting

reimbursed for having to spend money out of pocket, and sue companies

when their wrongful denials of benefits lead to patient injuries or

death. I currently have a number of major lawsuits against managed care

and insurance companies and recently made law in New York with the first

case of its kind allowing someone to sue an HMO for negligence and gross

negligence.

I am interested both in helping anyone you might know who needs

assistance in getting his/her benefits as well as litigating against

companies that have wrongfully denied patients their care. Although I

am licensed in New York, I am looking for test cases throughout the

country and will work with local attorneys on those cases.

Patients with psychiatric and psychological problems as well as those

struggling with substance abuse are the ones whose care has been cut the

most. Research has indicated that in the period from 1987 to 1997

managed care cut health care by 8% but mental health and substance abuse

care by 54%!!!! These are most fragile patients who can offer the least

resistance. Are the cuts much of a surprise?

I am particularly interested in life and death cases as well as

psychiatric ones. On a personal level, I get particular satisfaction

from assisting someone in obtaining life saving treatment. And I always

want to help families sue companies that wrongfully deny this

treatment. But I am also interested in those cases where people cannot

get the care they need to live a satisfying life on a day to day basis.

If I can be of help to any of your patients in any way or there are

situations where individuals have been injured or died because of

wrongful denials of benefits please let me know. Please do not

overlook cases where individuals could not get appropriate psychiatric

or substance abuse hospitalization and then either harmed themselves or

ran away. Companies can be sued for these kinds of wrongs. You can call

me at (212) 758-0993, write me at 18 East 50th Street, 7th Floor, New

York, NY 10022, or e-mail me at truemanlaw@erols.com. Please visit my
